Celebrate our Independence with Reading about American History

I know it is the 4th of July Holiday week so I will keep this blog post short.  This is a great time to help your children learn about American History and spark their interest in our Founding Fathers.  I recently finished reading a biography of Alexander Hamilton by Teri Kanefield, which I would recommend for any upper elementary student.

Our American history is so unique and complex using picture books or biographies are great ways to help students understand and gain insight into the significance of the 4th of July holiday.  Some great book selections are from the Who Was and What Was book series:

These picture books are also great quick reads that your family will enjoy.
