Mrs. Palmer’s 1st graders learned about many different ways children and their families celebrate Christmas in other countries. Something interesting to the class was that Australia residents celebrate Christmas in the summer! Santa turns in his reindeer for kangaroos! It was also interesting that fried chicken is a popular food in Japan for Christmas dinner. In addition to learning about different Christmas celebrations, the class also learned about Hanukkah from Mrs. Wiener, Pinewood’s speech pathologist. Here are a couple of pictures of the class writing in their Christmas Around the World books.
