Mrs. Palmer’s 1st graders learned about many different ways children and their families celebrate Christmas in other countries. Something interesting to the class was that Australia residents celebrate Christmas in the summer! Santa turns in his reindeer for kangaroos! It was also interesting that fried chicken is a popular food in Japan for Christmas dinner. In addition to learning about different Christmas celebrations, the class also learned about Hanukkah from Mrs. Wiener, Pinewood’s speech pathologist. Here are a couple of pictures of the class writing in their Christmas Around the World books.
Mrs. Richey’s students gave back on Giving Tuesday. We first talked about different ways that we could give as Kindergartners. Then we decided to give back by cleaning the playground up with picking up any trash we could find. We made it even more fun by competing with girls vs. boys to see who could collect the most trash! We had fun giving our time to Pinewood on Giving Tuesday!
