100th Day and Valentine’s Day

It has been a busy time in Mrs. Machiela’s kindergarten class. Though February may be the shortest month there are MANY things to celebrate.

Today I am highlighting our 100th day of school as well as our Valentine’s Day class party.

This was just a SAMPLE of how cute the kids looked dressed as 100 year olds for the 100th day of school.

The Snack mix we made with 10 pieces of 10 different items to make a trail mix with 100 pieces on the 100th day of school.

Here are just a FEW of our parents making the Valentine’s Day party one to remember! It’s the LAST class party of kindergarten!

Global School Play Day 2016

Global School Play Day was created to raise awareness about the necessity of unstructured play.  February 3, 2016, was the second annual Global School Play Day for students in schools around the world, over 60,000 students from 6 continents participated this year!  Peter Gray, a researcher at Boston College, argues the case that today’s kids do not grow up playing and that has impacted them in many ways.  It is time we return the gift of play to this generation.
