April 22 is Earth day. This is a day to celebrate our environment: air, water, land, wildlife, and ecosystems. Earlier this year, elementary students from across the state of Michigan were invited to create a poster to emphasize the importance of Earth day.
The contest was sponsored by The Michigan department of natural resources and Michigan department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. Judges selected a 1st and 2nd place winner from each grade and chose some honorable mentions, too.
Pinewood had one fourth grader (Ava Appel) and three fifth graders (Aidan Karsten, Malina Kothari, and Jolie Sheets) earn honorable mention awards for their amazing Earth Day posters. Other students who completed posters earned certificates of participation.
We are so proud of all of these students! Please join us in congratulating them!
